The Real Skinny On Fat, Episode 1:
Dominic D’Agostino: On average, I probably do anywhere between 30 to 90 milliliters of MCT. When
consumed the upper end, 90 milliliters per day, that would keep a blood ketone
level that's equivalent to like a modified ketogenic diet that's actually used
therapeutically for adults that have epilepsy.

The Real Skinny On Fat, Episode 1:
Dominic D’Agostino: Lauric acid, let's start with coconut oil. Lauric acid has a spectrum of
triglycerides, from C12 to 12 carbon chain to 10 carbon chain to 8 and even a
little bit of 6, I believe. The medium-chain triglycerides that are ketogenic, that
when you consume them they produce ketones, would be C8, especially C8, and
also to a lesser extent, C10. That would be caprylic triglyceride and capric
triglyceride, or decanogas and optinogas. These fats are, if you go by a medium-
chain triglycerides, these are what you get primarily, a mixture, almost a 50-50
mixture of the C8 and C10.
Dominic D’Agostino: Coconut oil has those medium-chain triglycerides but only probably in about
20%, and it depends on the coconut oil. A large amount of lauric acid, too, the
C12. C12 may have immune boosting properties, and some other therapeutic
effects, but is not very ketogenic, but has health promoting properties sort of
independent of ketosis, and can be used as a fuel by your body.
